At Priority IAC, quality is built into every step, from the raw materials we source to the microscopic, branded Smartbacteria strains at the heart of every product. We formalize those standards in our Bacteria Quality System, or BQS: the process that makes sure what is on the label is what reaches your herd, batch after batch.
What Are Our Livestock Supplement Quality Standards? What is BQS?
The Bacteria Quality System is the set of standards every Priority IAC product must meet before it leaves our facility. We use cutting-edge genome sequencing and controlled fermentation to produce and verify our Smartbacteria, the live, naturally occurring strains found only in Priority IAC products. BQS governs the whole process: how strains are grown, how they are preserved, and how they are tested, so every serving delivers proven, viable bacteria.
Why Bacteria Quality Matters
Live bacteria are fragile. Heat, moisture, rough handling, and time can all reduce how many organisms survive to reach the animal. A supplement can print a high count on the label and still fall short in the bag if it is not made and stored correctly. Closing that gap is what our quality standards are built to do.
It matters because gut health and overall health are closely linked. Up to 70% of an animal’s immune system resides in the digestive tract, so the viability and quality of what you feed works to help support your herd from the very first serving
Gentle Fermentation and Freeze-Drying
How bacteria are grown and preserved determines how well they perform later. Priority IAC Smartbacteria are fermented using gentle growth and freeze-drying methods that minimize cell damage. Protecting the cell wall and membrane during production helps preserve the beneficial molecules inside, for a more potent, stable finished product that is designed to be used effectively in your animal’s body and to help support a healthy immune response.
We perform bacteria quality and safety checks three times. We examine raw ingredients, pre-mixes, and the final product to ensure:
- Bacteria population counts
- Purity of the bacteria strain
- Product consistency
Every manufactured batch comes with a certificate of analysis confirming the bacteria count meets or exceeds the product guarantee. That is documented proof, not just a promise, that your herd is getting the most good-for-the-gut bacteria in every serving.
