Smart Bacteria Strains to Support Livestock

Smart Bacteria Priority IAC

Our team at Priority IAC uses advanced molecular-based strain selection methods and state-of-the-art DNA genomic sequencing to identify and select the strains of bacteria used in animal supplements. We call these “Smartbacteria,” and the unique combination can only be found in Priority IAC products.

We’ve spent decades understanding the trillions of microflora to identify the best of the best bacteria strains based on strength and performance when fed to livestock. Each strain has a specific function within the digestive tract to help support your animal’s health.

Only the most effective, highly focused, and beneficial bacteria that deliver on-farm results make the cut to be Priority IAC’s Smartbacteria.

Strain Identification

Not all bacteria or bacterial strains are the same. Just as there are notable differences among individual people, the same is true between trillions of bacteria strains.

Smartbacteria strains have little impact or can even negatively affect the host, while others are beneficial — even smart. It’s sort of like finding the needle in the haystack.

Let’s explore how we identify those that will make the most difference for your herd.

The unique strains of Priority IAC

Wondering what Smartbacteria  are actually found in our products? Each branded strain found only in Priority IAC products is described and verified by its genus, bacterial species, and strain name.

Each strain works together and has an important role in helping support your animal’s health. We separate them into four main categories — gut enhancers, gut managers, pathogen inhibitors, and immune communicators.

Bacteria strains that fall in this category are chosen to help support and elevate the animal’s microbiome.

  • Lactococcus lactis A2020™: Helps promote  efficient use of sugars and has anti-inflammatory properties
  • Pediococcus pentosaceus A4000h™: Helps promote s efficient use of 5 and 6 carbon sugars
  • Lactobacillus plantarum LP100™: Integrates with the intestine to help fight off disease-causing bacteria
  • Lactobacillus casei LC222™: Can help regulate digestive system
  • Enterococcus facieum EF141™: Helps promote  efficient use of sugars
  • Lactobacillus brevis LBR1000™: Helps promote  efficient use of sugars
  • Bacillus pumilus 8G-134™: Helps promote efficient use of sugars

Our “gut managers” are the branded strains of bacteria chosen to help work on gut acid.

  • Propionibacterium freudenreichii Prop1-IAC™: Acid consumer

In addition to helpful bacteria, there are plenty of negative strains of bacteria that can make your cows, horses, sheep, and other livestock sick. As the name implies, these strains were chosen to help block unwanted or bad bacteria.

  • Bacillus subtilis B5000h™: Help block harmful pathogens
  • Bacillus subtilis B50005™: Help block harmful pathogens
  • Bacillus subtilis B5150™: Help block harmful pathogens

With the majority of your immune system tied to the gut, your herd’s digestive system and immune system are closely linked. These bacteria work to help regulate immune action to keep your animals healthy.

  • Lactobacillus reuteri 1E-1®: Helps modulate the immune system
  • Enterococcus facieum 2E-1™: Helps support immune response
